Living Free Series Part I

April 2, 2018April 16, 2018 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

The first thing to remember when digging into the Word: it's about relationship. It's not about obligation, "being good", or checking off an item on our to-do list. Spending time in God's Word is spending time with God. It doesn't have to be a big production. It doesn't have to be done at a certain … Continue reading Living Free Series Part I

Living Free Series Introduction

March 31, 2018 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

I recently asked God to show me how to walk in freedom. The truth is, if we believe in Jesus' death and resurrection, we are free, but how do we actually live free? This is a big question. Big enough that countless books have been written to help us explore and unpack this idea of living … Continue reading Living Free Series Introduction

Burden to Blessing

March 16, 2018March 21, 2018 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

I've struggled most of my life with anxiety. I've researched and learned it's a natural consequence of living the kind of childhood I did. I always thought that it was sinful and that there was something fundamentally wrong with me because I experience episodes of overwhelming and debilitating anxiety. In his infinite tenderness, God has … Continue reading Burden to Blessing

Small Moments Matter

March 1, 2018March 1, 2018 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

I haven't written much here recently. For almost a year now I've been working on an exciting writing adventure for this website (more to come later), but have found I haven't had the time to devote to this project either. I've had an amazing writing opportunity come up at work and by the time I'm done … Continue reading Small Moments Matter

Experience Relationship

January 31, 2018March 16, 2018 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

If you hang around in Christian circles long enough, eventually someone will ask you, "What's your testimony?" This has always been a confusing and somewhat frustrating question. I used to think there was something wrong with me because I really felt like I didn't have a testimony. I'm not like Paul who experienced an amazing, … Continue reading Experience Relationship

Morning Music

January 10, 2018January 10, 2018 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

January has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start. There have been many beautiful blessings, but I've also been under a lot of spiritual attack. Spiritual attacks are great opportunities to lean into God, to trust in his authority and power. He is so faithful. This week he has given me a song … Continue reading Morning Music

Christmas Presence

December 5, 2017December 6, 2017 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

A friend of mine once told me of a beautiful image God gave her of a golf tee and how it illustrates the importance of supporting roles. A golf tee has the least glamorous job out of all the elements required to effectively play golf. It's the one that sticks into the dirt and muck. … Continue reading Christmas Presence

Good Vs. God

November 19, 2017November 21, 2017 ~ seededinstillness ~ 1 Comment

We're halfway through November and I have a confession to make: I am feeling weary. I feel like a 5-year-old who tried to fill up their own plate at Thanksgiving dinner. My plate is heaping high with delicious morsels, but my stomach is full. My stomach is full and I'm trying to shovel more in … Continue reading Good Vs. God

30 Days of Prayer

October 22, 2017March 16, 2018 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

November is quickly approaching (can you believe it?!). November usually means participating in 30 days of thankfulness challenges, but I have another challenge I would like to invite you into. One of my favorite gifts to give people is a prayer journal. Not just an empty journal for them to fill with their conversations with … Continue reading 30 Days of Prayer

Tuning Into God’s Voice

October 6, 2017October 6, 2017 ~ seededinstillness ~ Leave a comment

[Faithful (adjective): firm adherence to promises; deserving trust, keeping promises] God is the epitome of faithfulness. He speaks in promises and everything he speaks comes to fruition. If he promises he'll do something, he does it. Period. The Bible is God's Word and as such it's one long, beautiful promise. And what is this promise? … Continue reading Tuning Into God’s Voice

Hello Friends! Come on in and make yourself at home. I would love to have you over for a cup of coffee and sweet conversation, but this is the next best thing!

I’m Mama to one sweet, stubborn baby girl and wife to my best friend. I’m a small town girl with big heart and big dreams.

It’s my hope that together we can learn to abide in Him moment by moment, day by day.

Hand painted cover for my latest well loved Bible. Going to love on it for a while and then give it away. ❤🌼
My sweet auntie passed away this week and left us all reeling. Since then, God has been playing the song I Can Only Imagine over and over in my mind. ◽◽◽ A gentle reminder that even though we mourn, we mourn with hope. She is healed, walking with Jesus and glorifying God. ◽◽◽ "Surrounded by your glory, what will my heart feel? Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still? Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall? Will I sing hallelujah? Will I be able to speak at all? I can only imagine."❤🎵
Mama finally had to admit, "I'm sick." Does anybody else find it hard to rest? I tend to believe the lie, if I take time to rest everything will fall apart. We can trust our heavenly Father to provide for ALL our needs, yes even rest. So, this Mama has a date with some Fixer Upper, Jesus and my pillow. ◽◽◽ **🙈 Yes I'm drinking out of my husband's papa bear mug. I love glass mugs.**
More sweet whispers of comfort for hurting hearts. ❤ ◽◽◽ "When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul." Psalm 95:19 ◽◽◽ Consolation: comfort received by a person after a loss or disappointment.
Sadness is not a sin. Whenever I find my heart is broken and my spirit is crushed, I'm tempted to believe the lie that I need to be happy all the time or I'm not a true follower of Christ. ◽◽◽ But God lovingly reminds me of one of the shortest verses in the Bible: "Jesus wept." (John 11:35) ◽◽◽ Jesus knows what it's like to have a broken heart. He knows what it's like to mourn. We don't have to put on a happy face and pretend it's all okay. We can bring our pain to God and trust that we'll be met with love and compassion. ◽◽◽ Joy is not the same as happiness. Joy is a deep peace that results from knowing God and having relationship with Him. We can have joy and still mourn. He promises to draw near to us during these moments of sorrow. ◽◽◽ And that's something worth rejoicing over.
Listening to the Father's whispers and writing them down for someone else to read someday is one of my favorites. ◽◽◽ Loving on this Bible to give it away to a sweet woman who needs it. I don't know who she is, but God does. He's preparing her and seeking her with love and intention.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” John 15:4
